A Mission of Hope & Exploration
Supporting Affordable Housing and Suborbital Tourism
The Mission of 888 Craft Beer and Oselo Help Corp
Our founder, Pierre Richard Augustin, grew up in Les Cayes, Haiti, with a passion for adventure sparked by Bruce Lee’s Kung Fu films. After studying in Paris in 1980, his life took a transformative turn in 2015 when he spent time in Chongqing, China, learning Tai Chi and embracing Chinese culture. Inspired by his journey and his love for community, Pierre launched 888 Craft Beer to bring people together over a shared experience.
The Story Behind 888 Craft Beer
When Pierre returned to Washington, D.C., in March 2015, his unforgettable experiences in China inspired him to create 888 Craft Beer. In Chinese culture, the number 8 represents luck, prosperity, and abundance, values that now define our brand. Since the 2015 launch at the Brooklyn Beer Festival and subsequent events in Shanghai and Tokyo, 888 Craft Beer has symbolized friendship and exploration

In Their Memory: The Story of Oselo’s Name
As a child growing up in Les Cayes, Haiti, Dominique Milvoix Augustin was captivated by Bruce Lee’s Kung Fu movies, dreaming of traveling to China to learn Kung Fu at the Shaolin Temple. Oselo80, his parents, Louise Marcelaine Aleandre and Dominique Milvoix Augustin, fulfilled this dream by sending him to school in Paris, France, where he attended the College Eugene Delacroix.
Years later, in 2015, Dominique’s dream came to fruition when he spent a transformative month in Chongqing, China. There, on February 8, he met Jane, a Tai Chi teacher who welcomed him with open arms. He celebrated Chinese New Year with her family in Yibin, Sichuan province, where he learned not only the art of Tai Chi but also the deeper values of Chinese culture, such as the beauty of community and tradition. He cherished the experience of toasting during the celebrations—a simple gesture expressing joy, gratitude, and connection.
Upon returning to Washington, D.C., in March 2015, Dominique felt compelled to honor this unforgettable experience. Thus, 888 Craft Beer was born, named for the number 8, which symbolizes luck, prosperity, and abundance in Chinese culture. The brand was launched at the Brooklyn Beer Festival in August 2015, followed by events in Shanghai, China, and Tokyo, Japan, later that year. Brewed in Baltimore City, Maryland, 888 Craft Beer became a celebration of friendship and exploration.
In 2017, just before attending the International Craft Beer Festival in Beijing, China, Dominique received a heartfelt message from his mother, Louise Marcelaine Aleandre, expressing her wish to see him. He prioritized this request and adjusted his schedule to visit both his parents in Les Cayes, Haiti, before traveling to the craft beer show in August.
From January to May 2019, Dominique was blessed with five precious months spent with his father, Dominique M. Augustin, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 93, and his mother, Louise M. Aleandre, who left them in 2020 at the age of 83. Those months were a treasure, filled with daily visits to their home, where his mother, affectionately known as “Selo,” would light up the room, and his father’s gentle humor brought laughter to their gatherings.
It was this love and joy that filled those mornings, creating memories Dominique holds dear. Inspired by his parents’ compassion for the less fortunate and their zest for life, he felt a deep urge to honor their legacy. This led him to create the non-profit organization “Oselo,” a name that embodies his parents’ spirit and reflects their mission of helping others. Oselo stands as a tribute to their belief in generosity and kindness, dedicated to uplifting those in need.
Oselo is not just a non-profit organization; it’s a tribute to my parents’ belief in helping others.
Best regards,
